Let me start off by saying this is such an easy meal to make. Seriously. Also, my daughter loves it. She eats hers without the sauce and uses ranch to dip it all in since ranch goes on everything lately.
Well, maybe not ice cream. Okay, erase.erase.erase that just made me ick a little. Pretend I didn’t write that. I even slashed through it to help. Better? Now, where was I…
Let me also tell you that I’m trying not to be too southern and write TATERS or TATER WEDGES. I grew up with that slang and you knew or know what they are. I decided to be more grown up and just use Potato Wedges. Same thing. Just not from down here, over there past the big split tree at this lil’ place that’s a hole in the wall with good fixin’s or vittles. Do they have squirrel? I don’t know. I’m not that South or that southern. Gracious, now all the things I’d see on Sunday’s after Church sitting on the table for everyone to help themselves to is blowing my mind. We should definitely skip a huge bit of those too. My kin could cook, but I was (I’ll admit it) a picky eater. Back then and probably up until, maybe, six or seven years ago, I would have never said that. I didn’t think I was. Oh, but I am … am I ever.
I could give you a huge visual now when it comes to taters but I won’t. I live with the reminder day in and day out. It’s because of this I won’t eat taters anywhere but from my own kitchen. It’s not what you think. I guarantee you that. I used to make taters in a kitchen along with chicken day in and day out when I was super young at one of those one stop places: get some food, spirits, gas and what else ya’ need all in one place. Nuff said. I was told I was the fastest chicken … another time. Let’s just say one of my brother’s was not happy that I took that title from him. I, on the other hand, never wanted it. With that I took off and never looked back. Basically. Kind of? Well, it’ll do for now as of course you care about the recipe and not the stories I spin.
By-the-way, you can use drumettes if you or your kids like the smaller chicken legs better. Or mix and match or throw in some wings.
I’m going to write the recipe in the order I do/make it. So, it will start with the chicken and what you need, then the potatoes and what you need and finally the sauce; as I do that while the previous are cooking. You can do it in the order you prefer – I just felt this was an easy way to follow along (so it looks like there’s a lot of items when in reality the majority are repetitive). Enjoy!
