Prior to having my daughter I would say shopping was a hobby of mine.  I found it to be relaxing and I enjoyed checking out the new styles for the seasons.  One of my favorite things was to try to find bargains at Loehmans or Marshalls as I liked the hunt.  It felt a bit like treasure hunting to me!  Fast forward to present day, and it is sad but true, that I don't have the time - or make the time - to shop much except for basics.  But recently, I have felt it was time to put some effort into my day-to-day wardrobe and … [Read more...]

Have you ever woken up on summer morning, and asked "What am I going to do with my kids today"?  Summer break is an amazing time of exploration, growth and bonding for you and yours.  But it can also be taxing (ok, even maddening) for parents as we are faced with keeping our kids occupied all day with fun, enriching activities and picking up where school left off.  As my daughter is still in kindergarten and only goes to school a few hours each day - there are some days when  I ask myself what am I going to do today?  My … [Read more...]

goodies-mother-s-day-image

Since becoming a mother over six years ago, I  always look forward to getting the handmade artwork or crafts that my daughter makes for me for Mother's Day!  I think I am pretty easy to shop for (my husband might disagree) as I love flowers and treats on Mom's Day but trying to figure out what to get my mom can cause me a bit of stress!  Not this year though! Recently,  I came across The Goodies Company (love this name) that provides a monthly box of snacks delivered right to the door.  Subscribers to the Goodies Co. … [Read more...]

A Mother’s Day Poem by Adrienne Rich

Photo.AdrienneRich.7025351665_6f6aa8c9cc_z

I know you are reading this poem as you pace beside the stove warming milk, a crying child on your shoulder, a book in your hand because life is short and you too are thirsty. I know you are reading this poem which is not in your language guessing at some words while others keep you reading and I want to know which words they are. I know you are reading this poem listening for something, torn                 between bitterness and hope turning back once again to the task you cannot refuse. I know you are reading this … [Read more...]

This past weekend I attended the Mom 2.0 Summit at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel where hundreds of women bloggers were looking to connect with other women as well as with the sponsors and partners of the event such as Honda, Whirlpool, and Dove.  It was pretty amazing to be in a room full of women (and a handful of men) who were so interested to learn some tricks of the trade about how to turn their hobbies or  businesses into a more successful one.  This was my first Mom Blogger event and I really didn't know what to … [Read more...]

Confession :: Not a Fan of Flying! Next week I will be flying out for the PBS Kids annual meeting in Miami, Florida as part of their PBS Kids VIP Ambassador Program.  Recently, they asked me if I would like to become a member of this group and as many of you know, I love PBS Kids!  Their programs are rich with great characters and quite educational such as Word Girl (love her sidekick monkey Captain Huggyface) and Wild Kratts: Creature Power.
